Hoechst Marion Roussel's Communications Course Gets Rave Reviews!

HMR's KEVIN SCHATZLE, CHARLES HETZEL and JOHN SALMON were instrumental in organizing the Communications Skills Course offered to SOS Officers this past July.  The course, presented by  DR. COLELLA of SETON HALL UNIVERSITY and INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT COMPANY OF FAR HILLS, was designed to analyze the ways in which we communicate and react in everyday situations in the field.  Officers were offered the opportunity to sharpen their listening and communication skills through a variety of activities such as role playing, open discussion, problem solving, and personal empowerment.
Officers were encouraged to focus on their goals and direction in life not just on the job, but in their personal lives through meditation and reflection.  RAYMOND GIORDANO commented that, "(the course) allowed us to interact with our superiors, co-workers, and site employees more efficiently and clearly".  JAMES CHINNICK said that the course "gave him the tools needed to communicate with others in such a way as to understand and be understood".
Opportunities like these are an excellent way for SOS Officers and our Clients alike to build relationships that can foster a more productive environment.  CHERYL SHOEMATE notes that her stronger "values and self esteem" have led to "an advanced productivity level at work".

"Hats Off" to SOS Officer David Pacewicz

Each quarter the CENTRAL DISPATCH newsletter will highlight an SOS Officer who has gone above and beyond, and whose actions merit the recognition of the SOS Team.
On Friday, February 5, 1999 at approximately 5:00 PM OFFICER PACEWICZ spotted two individuals removing items from the site he was patrolling.  After questioning the two individuals, they became hostile and refused to give their names or return the items that had been taken.
OFFICER PACEWICZ maintained his composure, notified his supervisor and behaved in a very professional manner.

The Director of Corporate Security at the site stated OFFICER PACEWICZ, "who exhibits a professional security image at all times" displayed "the ability to use good judgement in a courteous and articulate manner".
OFFICER PACEWICZ serves as an example of the benefit of security officers being alert, knowledgeable of the site,  standard operating procedures, and taking pride in their work.
"Hats Off" to OFFICER PACEWICZ for his exemplary actions and skills used in handling this incident.
